Running Delta Sig Again?

What is the point running for the fraternity again? No one encourages me to run for it again, especially when I am in my senior year now. But here is the thing. Since I have been wanting to join Delta Sig, at least now I could try to rush for it again when the opportunity is still there... Before I started to regret for life.

It is fun to join the activities during the rush too. As to whether they want me or not, it does not matter. For your info, this will be my third time running for it.

Freezing Rain in Iowa

From the pictures, you can see how amazing are the freezing rain. It does not happen many times in years. This time is so serious that Drake University has to cancel its classes (which made me free for the whole day).

It looks so beautiful at the time around 5 o'clock here when there is a low light condition. Just something to share.

I Wonder I Could Make It...

I admit that I am not one of those really smart ones out there. In this semester, I have taking 5 level 400's classes at Drake and it is all in a day, back-to-back classes, every Monday and Wednesday and I wonder how far could I push myself to my limit. From 11:00 am till 9 pm on Monday, 10:00 am to 4:45 pm on Wednesday. Imagine 5 midterms on a day. I will not let that happen.

Aside from that, I am also working a fixed set of 17 hours per week, which is insanely crazy. I never knew I will have to work that much in this semester. The combination of work at the Student Life Center and at the Bell Center is great because both of them focus on providing a good customer service. These jobs will further enhance my decision making skills and my American English.

Working hours are:

Tuesday : 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm

Wednesday : 8:00 pm to 12:30 am

Thursday : 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm, 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm

Friday : 11:00 am to 4:00 pm

Wages ranging from 7.25, 8.25 and 9.25. I need to work to pay back the cash that I have spent on electronics and vacation in LA.

On the good side, I have 5 days as weekend which allow me to self study and rest full time. I really hope I will be able to make it through this semester. I mean, both scoring a perfect score in my classes and no customers would complain about work.

Reviving My Blog

I have decided to revive my blog. I need to throw all the ideas in my head into the blog to clear them out. Also, thanks to the people who motivated me to keep it alive! I appreciate it.

Failed to Join Delta Sigma Pi, Again..

This is my second time rushing for it and I really do not know the cause of failing to join. They selected 17 people out of 51. It is kind of hard for me to accept the fact that I have to rush for the third time, which is in next semester.

I really really like to join that professional business fraternity. Well, I will see how it goes. I have to be optimistic. I will get back to my assignments for now.

House Warming Potluck This Coming Friday! 9/11

I am really excited about it. But at the same time I am also worried that not many people would attend or people will dislike the food etc. I am trying to come out with a good solution, that is, still in progress.

Senior year started @ 24th August 2009!

This journey back was not as excited when I first came here. Since I know my goal already, I have to start working hard on it.

In regards to on-campus job, I have got good and nice working hours! I am really happy about it. Currently I am working 11 hours per week (fixed), and more good working hours to come!

I have applied for front desk. I do not expect getting good working hours given this is my first time applying for it.

One of the major concerns that I am facing now is that I am afraid I might not get the classes that I want for this semester. I have decided to change my major from Finance and Marketing to Finance and Accounting approximately 2 months ago, but I could not change the classes online because they were all full. I will have to go to the office tomorrow morning to get them all settled (hopefully), including the troublesome senior petition. Given this uncertainty, I might be getting only 4 classes in this semester, as opposed to 5 classes as planned.

I am hesitating whether should I get a car or not. To me, getting a car is a necessity. I do not want to carry so much stuff (groceries and necessities) from Wal-mart in an extreme weather (-20 Celcius ++). Getting a car here is really cheap, plus we could sell it off later without having a huge loss too. I need a good and trustworthy friend to share the car with.

The house is still a mess after 48 hours of cleaning them. However, it is getting done soon.

Resume updates are needed for the coming career fair. Really do hope that I will get an internship here next summer. It gives really good experience and money. =)

I have to do some financial calculations to check the rent payment, electricity, internet and mobile phone monthly payment for the past summer. There are a lot of calculations to do.

Internship is Ending Soon

I am a bit excited to know that I am having my last week of internship. Through out the entire internship here, I have gain tremendous amount of knowledge that I have never expect it to be. Besides on the great deal of knowledge that I have gained on the hands-on stuff on projects and proposals, most importantly is my self-development.

Many people are saying that internship in Malaysia cant learn much of a thing; the job scopes are basically photocopying and printing. I would say it would only be like that if you are not confident in yourself and you are not being proactive. Many would say it depends a lot on your supervisor whether they provide you the appropriate knowledge that you should gain or not. If so, they would give you the tasks that are up to your level; it will not be anything lower unless you are lazy. Proactive and confidence played an important part in this situation because you need to be able to say that "I can do it". Having said that, you have to put in extra effort to get the work done in order to prove that you can do it. But of course we have to make the assumption that all managers are ethical. Waiting for tasks to be assigned to you is not bringing you anywhere further.

Updates

It has been awhile since my last update as my time was really occupied with all of the possible entertainment here.

Finally, I have got a girlfriend after so many years of being single. This girlfriend of mine has been truly supporting me from many ways, inside out, a best girlfriend that I have ever get (this is really not a biased information). She has done a lot and it is really hard for me to explain every single thing here in this blog.

As for the one month online course, it was a crazy nightmare which I totally regret taking it. It has ruined my June's life in Malaysia. It was so intense that I hardly have time to do my own stuff. Now I am glad that it is already over.

And ever since I came back, there is NO a single day that I am at home all day. Really! As long as I have a car, or my friends have a car, I will be out; Whether it is for movies, yam cha, hanging out in the mall etc. There is not much time spent on my family. Now my brother has left for UK, the family is getting more and more quiet..

I need to go out now, more updates will be available soon.... soon...
